BASE METAL WRAP: Copper advanced in London as U.S. manufacturing expanded at the quickest clip in three years and construction spending rebounded, signaling increased demand.

ENERGY WRAP: Natural gas prices dropped on Tuesday after weather forecasting models called for falling temperatures across the U.S., which should cut into the need for air conditioning and thus reduce demand for the commodity at the nation's thermal power plants. Oil prices dropped on Tuesday due to mounting concerns that global supply is far outreaching demand, while a stronger U.S. dollar also bruised the commodity.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold futures extended losses on Tuesday, slumping to more than two month lows as the broadly stronger dollar dampened investor demand for the precious metal.

BASE METAL WRAP: Aluminium led most industrial metals higher as worse-than-expected manufacturing data in China and the euro area increased speculation of more economic stimulus. Copper fell in London on signs that factory demand will slow in China, the world’s largest consumer of the industrial metal.

ENERGY WRAP: West Texas Intermediate crude fell amid speculation that weakening manufacturing from Germany to China will cap demand for oil. Brent was steady in London.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold extended a declined from a one-week high, retreating for a third day, as investors weighed the health of the global economy against tension between Ukraine and Russia.

INDIAN BENCHMARK open higher levels with upside gains. Auto stocks will be in focus on the back of robust August sales. Further, metal and power stocks could extend gains after the Centre requested the apex court not to cancel permits for 46 blocks.


FURTHER, Cipla Ltd has launched an anti-asthma inhaler in Germany and Sweden that is a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline Plc's Advair, a move that will further dent sales of the British firm's top-selling product. Tata Motors reported 17.59% decline in total sales at 40,883 units in August, 2014 as against 49,611 units in the same month last year.

·        Supreme Court says coal block allocations post 1993 illegal

Supreme Court has pronounced the terms under which coal blocks were allocated post 1993 as illegal but stopped short of deallocating the blocks. The conseqence of illegality will be determined on September 1, 2014. The apex court observed that the issue of de-allocation will need further hearing, but barred UMPPs from exploiting captive mines.

·        GAIL to restart work on Rs 10,000-cr Energy Highway

GAIL India said work was set to start on the 2,050-km Jagdishpur-Phulpur-Haldia natural gas pipeline, which will serve as the Energy Highway for West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.

·        Adani Group plans 2,500 MW rejected coal based power plant

Adani Group is close to signing up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government to set up 2,500 MW of rejected coal based power plant in Angul district. The proposed investment is Rs 12,500 crore, as divulged by the company's senior management.

·        Ranbaxy faces Rs 242 crore US fine

Shares of Ranbaxy Laboratories was up 2% on reports that company may have to pay Rs 242 crore fine, imposed by the State of Texas.

BASE METAL WRAP: Copper in London traded near the highest price in almost a week after data showed confidence among U.S. homebuilders reached the most in seven months and as investors look ahead to Chinese manufacturing data.

ENERGY WRAP: West Texas Intermediate rose for the second time in three days before supply data that may signal the strength of fuel demand in the U.S., the world’s biggest oil consumer. Brent was steady in London.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold held below $1,300 an ounce after two days of losses on optimism that the U.S. recovery is gaining traction while tensions ease in Ukraine and the Middle East. Palladium traded near a 13-year high and platinum rose.

BASE METAL WRAP: COPPER futures were up on the London Metal Exchange Friday, rebounding from the previous session's slump amid renewed hopes that central banks will step in to boost economic growth.

ENERGY WRAP: Brent crude fell amid speculation that threats to Middle East oil supplies are easing. West Texas Intermediate declined in New York. Refinery breakdowns from Kansas to Texas are giving gasoline a boost, spurring speculators to increase bullish bets for the first time in six weeks as the Labor Day holiday approaches.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold decreased for a second day as the outlook for an improving U.S. economy outweighed tension in Ukraine. Silver fell to a two-month low, while palladium retreated from the highest level in more than 13 years.

DHFL has announced that the Committee of the Board of Directors at its meeting held on August 14, 2014, has allotted 43,914 fully paid up equity shares of 10 each to eligible employees of the Company.

FURTHER, Apollo Tyres plans to raise about Rs 1,725 crore through issue of securities was today approved by the shareholders of the company. Reliance Communication has received Rs. 650 crore from Telecom Infrastructure Finance Private Limited equivalent to 50% of the issue price of the Equity.

FURTHER, Piramal Enterprises Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs. 28963.20 mn for the quarter ended June 30, 2014 as compared to Net Loss of Rs. (1466.60) mn for the quarter ended June 30, 2013. IDBI bank has posted a net profit of Rs. 1048.10 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2014 as compared to Rs. 3069.50 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2013.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS fell on weak global cues.

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS fell over 1%, snapping two days of gains, as lenders slumped on worries that a sell-off in government bonds would hit the value of their debt holdings.

• Further, Infosys rose 2.01% on reports that three former executives have asked the company to buyback shares worth Rs11200 crore.

• Jindal Steel & Power Ltd has announced results for the quarter ended June 30, 2014.Net profit at Rs 306.27 crore vs Rs238.86 crore YoY. Total Income at Rs3605.78 crore vs Rs3431.45 crore YoY.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at 7750 and above this 7840. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 7640 and next support will be 7595.

·        Apollo Tyres Q1 net profit jumps 37%, EBITDA disappoints

Apollo Tyres disappointed with operational performance. Net profit grew by 37.4 percent to Rs 228 crore in the quarter ended June 2014 aided by other income. Profit in the year-ago period was Rs 165.9 crore.

·        Amara Raja Batteries Q1 net up 8% on strong revenue growth

Amara Raja Batteries reporting a 8.3 percent growth in profit after tax at Rs 106 crore in April-June quarter of current financial year 2014-15 driven by higher sales growth despite higher depreciation cost. Profit in the year-ago period was Rs 97.8 crore.

·        Adani Ports Q1 net profit jumps 36% at Rs 568 cr

Adani Ports Q1FY15 (April-June) consolidated net profit jumped 36 percent at Rs 568 crore versus Rs 417.5 crore in a year ago period. The consolidated total income was down 14.6 percent at Rs 1,261.6 crore versus Rs 1,478.4 crore, Y-o-Y.

·        IDBI Bank Q1 profit falls 66% on lower other income, NII

IDBI Bank  reported  net profit in April-June (Q1FY15) quarter plunged 66 percent to Rs 105 crore on account of lower other income and net interest income but supported by lower provisions. Profit in the year-ago period was Rs 307 crore.
